Upcoming Events:

Big Sandy Camp Spring Workday (May 1st - 2nd, 2015):

Big Sandy Camp's Spring Workday will be Fri-Sat, May 1-2 this year. The camp serves about 100 churches in our district and they need our help.

Most come Friday evening and leave after Saturday 5:30pm supper. Food and lodging are provided for free. Men, women, youth and families are all welcome. Friday night we will have brats, dogs, chips, beans, snacks & smores in the upper room of Oak Lodge. And if any musicians show up (bring your guitar if you play) we'll have some impromptu worship by the fireplace.

They have plenty of work needed to be done that involves many skills such as; carpentry, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, tree work, grounds clean-up, etc. Many say "I will do whatever is needed" which is perfect, but if you have trade skills, there is likely to be a project that could be tailored just for you or your group.

We can help identify the kind of tools you can bring if you target a project.

If you are interested in the project list or any other information, contact John Baker at Big Sandy Camp.

Looking forward to the fellowship and achievement as we team together!

Men's Retreat (February 24th, 2017):

Bob Thune presents: "Putting Life Together"

Go To Registration

Bob was born in Murdo, South Dakota, and grew up there, the eldest of 5 children. He is married to his college sweetheart, Ruthie; and they have two sons, Bob and Jeff. Bob Jr. is presently Senior Pastor of Coram Deo Church in Omaha, NE. Jeff is the Senior Pastor at Northwest Bible Church in Tucson, AZ. The Thunes are blessed to have 7 grandchildren.

Bob graduated from Biola University in Southern California, in 1969, after which he attended Talbot Seminary, receiving his Master of Divinity in Practical Theology in 1972.

In ministry for 44 years, Pastor Bob’s first pastorate was the Evangelical Free Church in Huntington Beach, CA where he served as Senior Pastor from 1972 to 1982. The church grew under his leadership from one to five staff members and from 190 to 550 attendees. In August of 1982, Bob accepted a call as Senior Pastor of Christ Community Church (formerly known as the Omaha Gospel Tabernacle) in Omaha, Nebraska. Under Pastor Bob’s leadership for 22 years, the church grew from 900 to 2700 in Sunday ministry. Then, it was back to southern California to pastor Southwest Community Church in Indian Wells, a church that fluctuates a lot due to the intense heat in the summer and the “snowbird factor” in the winter. Attendance on Sunday mornings ranged from 2,500 to 4,500.

After 7 years at Southwest, Bob became the Lead Pastor at what was then First Evangelical Free Church, now GracePoint Church, in Bismarck, ND, a church that ranges from 400-500 in worship, 600-700 in total attendance.

Ruthie was born and raised in California, except for a 6 year period in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Her father was a pastor, and she is the middle child of five—two girls and three boys all of whom are or have been pastors. Ruthie’s life revolves around her home, family, and church. She loves to use her home as a venue for ministry.

Pastor Bob enjoys spending time with kids and grandkids; and his leisure pursuits include motorcycling and golf.

Men's Leadership Roundtable Retreat

Greetings from the Northwestern District C&MA Men!

For the second year in a row, we're inviting men in leadership roles from around the district (and beyond) to the Men's Leadership Roundtable retreat. It's for men who lead, or are called to lead, in their churches. It's for any man who has the desire in his heart to learn to lead and teach other men to lead. It's an event for catching a vision for how it can be when God's men take what God has put in them and pass it on to a new generation.

The Men's Leadership Roundtable retreat is coming up October 29 & 30 at Big Sandy Camp. The cost is $50.00--and scholarship opportunities are available. We've invited Dr. Don Alexander, professor emeritus of theology at Bethel Seminary, and a lifelong C&MA brother, to come and share with us. We'll also have free materials for you, and some amazing times of fellowship.

If you do attend, you will receive $50 off the next Men's Retreat. This discount will be transferable.

If you're interested, please contact us at info@nwdcmamen.org to let us know you're coming. It's going to be something truly inspiring.
